Analytical methods for the quantification of antibiotics in new, alternative, and volume-limited sample matrices

  • Universiteit Erasmus Medisch Centrum Rotterdam
  • Promovendus Soma Herbers-Bahmany
  • Promoters Birgit Koch
  • Co-Promoters Robert Flint Rawi Ramautar
  • Jaar 2021-2025

The aim of this project is to achieve more effective patient treatments with antibiotics by quantifying the concentrations at the site of infection with minimal sample volumes. To enable quantification of antibiotics at the site of infection, multiple assays should be developed and validated in these infected matrices, such as synovial fluid, synovial tissue, bone, and vitreous humor. Furthermore, the focus will be on small-volume samples and more patient friendly, and sustainable sample preparations.
