Cost-effectiveness of expensive drugs

  • Universiteit Erasmus Medisch Centrum Rotterdam
  • Promovendus Shannon van der Zeeuw
  • Promoters P.H.M. van der Kuy
  • Co-Promoters M.B.S. Crombag T. Preijers
  • Jaar 2024-2028

Hospital expenditure of expensive drugs increases yearly. In addition, shortages are becoming more common. To assure access to healthcare and treatment in the future, sustainable use of expensive drugs is very important. This research aims to optimize treatment with regard to efficacy and safety, while aiming to reduce drug costs.

Analyzing the immunogenicity of bivalent booster vaccinations in healthcare workers

  • Universiteit Erasmus Medisch Centrum Rotterdam
  • Promovendus Wendy Tan
  • Promoters Hugo van der Kuy
  • Co-Promoters Rory de Vries Corine Geurts van Kessel Luca Zaeck
  • Jaar 2022-2025

To determine the need for repeated booster vaccinations in healthy individuals and to aid policymakers in future public health interventions for COVID-19. Gain insight into the immunogenicity of the additional bivalent booster vaccination in a representative sample of the healthy Dutch population. We aim to investigate three main topics:
i) immunogenicity of bivalent vaccines after priming with adenovirus- or mRNA-based vaccines,
ii) immunological recall responses and reactivity with relevant variants after booster vaccination, and
iii) the necessity of booster vaccinations for the healthy population in the future.

3D-printing of peadiatric medication

  • Universiteit Erasmus Medisch Centrum Rotterdam
  • Promovendus Amanda Holst
  • Promoters P.H.M. (Hugo) van der Kuy
  • Co-Promoters E.J. (Liesbeth) Ruijgrok
  • Jaar 2024-2028

The aim of this project is to explore the 3D printing of peadiatric medicines. 3D printing technology enables the creation of medications with a wide range of dosages, shapes, flavors, and drug combinations, all customized to meet the unique needs of individual patients and specific disease conditions. Once the optimal formulations have been developed, the 3D printed medicines will undergo clinical trials for testing.

3D-printing of peadiatric medication

  • Universiteit Erasmus Medisch Centrum Rotterdam
  • Promovendus Eveline van Kampen
  • Promoters P.H.M. (Hugo) van der Kuy
  • Co-Promoters E.J. (Liesbeth) Ruijgrok
  • Jaar 2021-2026

We will study compounding medication by 3D printing technology. In this way personalized medication will become more accessable.
First formulation studies will be executed in order to provide a stable production process. After which, the use of 3D printing will be introduced in the clinical setting. Finally, the printed medication will be tested by a clinical trial.
