Hospital expenditure of expensive drugs increases yearly. In addition, shortages are becoming more common. To assure access to healthcare and treatment in the future, sustainable use of expensive drugs is very important. This research aims to optimize treatment with regard to efficacy and safety, while aiming to reduce drug costs. 
 

Het ontwikkelen van een clinical rule voor het toepassen van de STOPP/START criteria versie 3, geïntegreerd in het ziekenhuis informatie systeem. De STOPP/START criteria zijn een set expliciete criteria die worden gebruikt voor de identificatie van mogelijk ongeschikte medicatie (STOPP criteria) en ontbrekende medicatie (START criteria). De STOPP/START criteria zijn sinds de publicatie van die eerste versie in 2008 erg in omvang gegroeid (190 criteria in versie 3 vs 87 criteria in versie 1) en daarom is het lastig om de criteria toe te passen voor bijvoorbeeld een beoordeling. 
 

The research focusses on several aspects related to reimbursement: factors influencing the time to reimbursement, measures to improve the time to reimbursement, differences in the clinical evidentiary requirements of oncology assessment, EMA versus HTA bodies and changes in economic evaluations of oncology drugs in time.
 

The research project aims to develop models for the prediction of disease duration in order to support personalized and cost-effective care of depression patients. Using these models, optimal treatment strategies will be analyzed. In this project, we also want to predict treatment resistant depression as a specific subgroup and conduct cost-effectiveness analyses of different psychotherapy strategies and quantify the impact of structural uncertainty and parameter uncertainty on the results of cost-effectiveness evaluations.
